Bernheimer House Where things happen in Port Gibson Mississippi!!!

212 Walnut Street Port Gibson, Mississippi (601) 437-2843

Home of Mississippi Murder Mysteries

Below are pictures of stain glass mosaics that were done when the house was built in 1900-1901 and were painted over. I am uncovering the ones that are left and am looking for origin and history of where the idea came from and if these type of mosaics have been used elsewhere. Samuel Bernheimer was born in Hohenems, Tyrol, Austria 1812-1888 and his wife was born Wittgenbron Kuhrhessen, Germany 1827-1904. I do not know where they were marred. Their youngest son Jacob 1863-1911 ran the business in Port Gibson and lived with his mother when the house was built.

 Restoration of Historic Mosaics

Loren & Nancy Ouart inspect their shipment of glass from Kokomo Glass Co. Kokomo Glass made the original stained glass used over the main stair and in the mosaics when the home was built in 1901 and was able to match the texture and colors.

Six small mosaics on the bottom and three long have been restored. They still need to be grouted and the sea shells need to be added in the corners and middle to the long one.
